Dehradun is on its way to become a fitter and a healthier city! HASTPA in collaboration with Times Of India Dehradun has decided to indulge more and more citizens to hop onto the bicycle bandwagon. Dehradun will witness its first ever cyclothon- the TIMES DEHRADUN CYCLOTHON on the 1st Feb 2015 . The cyclothon will begin from the Parade Ground at 8:30 am. The route is an 18 km loop beginning from the Parade Ground to the Shahastradhara round about and back to the Parade ground. To encourage cycling in all sections of our society differently abled children will also mark their presence in the cyclothon . We are expecting a whooping participation of about 1000 riders from Dehradun !

India is still catching up on the culture of cycling. Cycling ensures not only good health but a greener, cleaner environment. Therefore initiatives like the TIMES DEHRADUN CYCLOTHON  play a very important role in making people aware and inculcating the healthy habit of cycling in the country. Not only that cycling as a sport can be a great career option.

HASTPA has always encouraged and promoted young cyclists and we dream of seeing Indian riders compete on an international level one day and we believe that day is not too far away!  Mountain Biking being our main promotional activity, this is the first time we are organizing an event outside Himachal Pradesh in an endeavor to promote the culture of cycling and spread awareness of its many benefits in the country . We’re doing our bit to ensure India is on its way to become a fitter and a greener country! If more and more people develop the habit of cycling we not only cut health hazards like obesity and cardiovascular diseases but we also cut down the carbon footprint of the country. That’s not it, let us tell you few amazing facts about a bicycle. You will be amazed to know that you can park twenty bicycles in a place where you park one single car.Your bicycle gives no pollution and it can be made by using just five percent of the materials which are required to build a car! Impressive, right? Here’s another one, your cycle is six times lighter to your weight where as a car is around twenty times heavier than your weight!

A bicycle is therefore way better than a car; it saves energy, helps in keeping the environment clean plus gives you that envious body that you always wanted. So it’s a win-win situation ! We’re ready to get fit! Dehradun, what are you waiting for ?
