Cycling through the magnificent Deodar forests, one is bound to be in awe of the grandeur of it, amidst the towering trees. This is the moment, my friend, when you should revel in the beauty of nature and sit back with a cup of Chai (sweetened milk tea), Himalayan style!
You see we, in the hills, take our chai very seriously !
A Chai is not just a cup of sweetened milk tea. This offering is the epitome of brotherhood in the hills. With each cup, you are being offered the chance to be a part of everything of the culture that is of the mountains, the Himalayas, a chance to be a part of nature, of life. The man at the tea stall is giving you the chance of seeing nature as he sees it. This man will share extraordinary stories about the mountains, the simple life, himself and the countless others who stopped by his tea stall just like you did.
The beauty of these mountain trails is that they are the lesser travelled roads, away from the humdrum of the cities. We will be taking you through some of the best mountain biking trails of the world and the chai stalls along the way. Each trail has its unique beauty and each chai wala, his unique story. On every ride through these trails, you will get these lines from every stranger you engage in a conversation with ‘Bhai saahab chai peekejao’, meaning ‘Brother, do have a cup of tea before you go’.
So join us on this adventure with Ashish Sood, an ace mountain biker and one of the Directors at HASTPA (Himalayan Adventure Sports & Tourism Promotion Association).
HASTPA is the pioneer body in India for mountain trail biking in India with MTB Himalaya, Asia’s toughest mountain biking race. Ashish travels extensively across the Himalayas to explore some of the finest mountain biking trails in the world. And who knows, maybe, you could meet the same chai wala on one of the breaks while discovering the beauty of the mountains.
